accent symbol
A small image placed on the upper left corner of a check next to the personalization. Accent symbols are mainly used on Personal and Home Desk checks.
accessories
A wide variety of "extra" items that customers can purchase to complement their checks. Examples include stamps, deposit tickets and wallet covers.
account number
The individualized number assigned to the consumer by a financial institution.
address labels
Peel and stick labels that are printed with the customer's name and address and placed in the return address field of an envelope.
background cut
An image that prints in the background of your check, typically collegiate symbols or letters.
binders
A check holder utilized to house Home Desk and business-size checks.
business checks
Also referred to as 3 to a Page checks. Utilized by businesses for a variety of purposes (e.g., to pay for products or services, payroll).
catalog code
A term utilized to describe the combination of letters and numbers used to order a specific product.
check covers
A covering used to house a consumer's personal checks, available in vinyl or leather, and a variety of styles that coordinate with your check.
check design
The various check designs available that allow you to customize a look that is right for you (e.g., classics, sports, collegiate).
deposit tickets
Check-size tickets that accompany your deposit transactions and provide a record for your financial institution.
end stub check
Can be either a Personal or Home Desk check that has a stub on the left side of the check for record-keeping purposes.
financial institution
Banks, credit unions, savings and loans and brokerage firms.
initials
A letter selected by a consumer (usually representing the last name) that is placed in the top left corner of a consumer's check, next to the personalization. A number of styles are available (e.g., signet, classic, prestige, artistic).
magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) line
The bottom line on a check, which includes the Routing/Transit number, On-Us symbol, and the consecutive number which is read electronically by financial institutions.
micro printed line
The signature line on a check that when magnified, actually reads "Authorized Signature." If the check is reproduced or altered, the type on the line appears broken.
monograms
Initials aligned in an oval shape on a consumer's check order, next to personalization. Generally, monograms appear as first initial, last initial, middle initial.
OneLiners
A small phrase placed directly above the signature line of a check.
parts
Indicates the number of carbonless copies provided in your check packet (e.g., single, duplicate, top-stub) that automatically record each transaction, making it easier to keep track of payments. A register is included for optional record keeping.
personalization
The personal information printed on a consumer's check order, which usually includes name and address. Sensitive information (e.g., phone number, Social Security Number) may or may not be allowed, depending on the restrictions of the financial institution.
promotional code
A discount code located on your reorder notice or product catalog. Promotional pricing displays when a valid code is applied to an order.
reorder
When customers return to place a subsequent order, they are able to retrieve their information from history and make changes as necessary.
routing/transit number
A nine-digit number that identifies the financial institution where a particular account is located.
stamps
Pre-inked stamps provide added convenience, allowing you to personalize anything with your address, account information or other details.
starting number
The numeric sequencing of checks.
style
The various check designs that allow you to customize a look that is right for you (e.g., classics, sports, collegiate).
top stub checks
A personal check that has a stub at the top used for record-keeping purposes. This type of check does not require a register.
